Accessibility

We want every Buddy, family member and facilitator to be able to use this app.

Last updated: October 12, 2026

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We are still working toward it, and we fix barriers as we find them.

What we have done

  • Every button and slider has a name a screen reader can read, including the teleprompter controls.
  • When a screen or step changes, keyboard and screen reader focus moves to the new heading or answer box.
  • Check boxes say whether they are checked. Form boxes have labels.
  • Text and buttons have strong color contrast, and focus outlines are easy to see.
  • Pages work on small phones and with text made larger, without sideways scrolling.
  • Motion is kept small, and it stops when a device is set to reduce motion. The teleprompter stops at the end of the script and can be paused at any time.
  • Read aloud uses the device's own voice. The read-aloud speed can be set to slower or faster on the Home screen.
  • The Publish Checklist includes checking YouTube captions.

How we checked

On October 12, 2026 we checked the Try It demo and the Privacy, Terms and Accessibility pages with an automated accessibility tool on small phone screen sizes, at normal text size and with text at 200 percent. The facilitator screens were reviewed in the code. We have not yet tested with VoiceOver, TalkBack, switch control or on every browser.

Known limits

  • Speak my answer appears only in browsers that have speech-to-text built in. On other browsers, typing still works.
  • Videos are watched on YouTube, which has its own accessibility features and limits.

Tell us about a barrier

If something in the app is hard to use, please email hello@mykeyplans.com. Tell us what you were trying to do, the screen you were on, and the device or browser if you know it. We will reply and work on a fix.
