Here is what Launch Buddies Story Studio keeps about Buddies, and who can see it.

Last updated: October 12, 2026

The short version

  • Only facilitators sign in. Buddies do not have accounts.
  • Only facilitators can see what is saved about a Buddy.
  • Nothing is published until a facilitator marks the photo and video release as signed. For a Buddy under 18, a parent or guardian release is needed too.
  • We never sell information, and there are no ads.
  • A parent or guardian, or an adult Buddy, can ask to see, change or remove anything by emailing hello@mykeyplans.com.

Who runs this app

Launch Buddies Story Studio is developed and owned by MyKey Consulting Services LLC in Bothell, Washington. Launch Buddies Media is a program of MyKey Consulting Services LLC. "We" and "us" mean MyKey Consulting Services LLC. Our privacy contact is Barbara Beck. You can reach us at hello@mykeyplans.com.

Who signs in

Only facilitators sign in. A facilitator works side by side with each Buddy and picks who is working on the screen. Buddies do not have their own accounts or passwords.

When a facilitator signs in, our hosting service, Base44, keeps their name, email address and sign-in details so the sign-in works. Facilitators sign in with an email and password or with a Google account.

What is saved about a Buddy

  • First name (and a last initial only if it helps tell two Buddies apart).
  • The Buddy's answers to story questions, their scripts and stories, titles, YouTube descriptions and tags they chose, and the YouTube link to a finished video.
  • Their portfolio list, a reading level target, a teleprompter speed, and whether they are a Launch Leader and who they are paired with.
  • Release status: whether the photo and video release is signed, the date, and which facilitator marked it. For a Buddy under 18, that they are under 18, the parent or guardian's name, and whether the parent or guardian release is signed, with the date.
  • A T-shirt size, what they are working on today, a first day checklist, and short facilitator notes.

The signed release paper itself is not stored in the app. It stays on file with the facilitator. Please leave health details and other private information out of notes and stories.

Who can see it

Only facilitators can open or change Buddy records. Anyone else who signs in sees only a message that the area is for facilitators. The hosting service, Base44, stores the information so the app can work.

Photos, videos and voices

The app does not record or store photos, videos or voice recordings. Videos are filmed and posted on YouTube outside the app. The app keeps only the link to the finished video.

Read aloud uses the device's own built-in voice. Nothing is sent to a voice service.

Speak my answer uses the web browser's own speech-to-text, when the browser has it. The browser maker (for example Google in Chrome or Apple in Safari) may process the sound to turn it into words. The app does not keep the sound. Only the words appear in the answer box, where the Buddy can change them.

Smart ideas and the Launch Coach

The app has two optional Smart helpers. They never write a Buddy's script or story.

Smart ideas suggests a YouTube title, description and tags. It runs only when someone taps "Get Smart ideas". Then the text of that one script is sent through our hosting service, Base44, to a language model service that Base44 uses (run by companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google) to write the ideas. The ideas are shown on screen and are kept only if the Buddy and facilitator pick one and tap Save.

Launch Coach asks questions and gives prompts. What is typed in the Launch Coach is sent the same way to write the coach's reply, and Base44 keeps the chat with the facilitator's sign-in. Please use first names only there.

Nothing is sent to these services unless someone taps the button or sends a message. We do not use anyone's information to train language models. Base44 and the companies it works with handle the text under their own terms.

Publishing to YouTube

A facilitator does the publishing, not the app. The app will not mark a video as published until a facilitator has marked the Buddy's photo and video release as signed, and, for a Buddy under 18, the parent or guardian release too. Buddies' work is shared only with permission.

Saved on this device

The browser on the session device remembers which Buddy was picked last and the read-aloud speed, so the next screen opens the right way. These are not sent to anyone. The Try It demo saves nothing at all.

What the hosting service sees

The app is hosted by Base44. Like any website, Base44 can see that a page was opened, and it keeps a simple record of which screen a signed-in facilitator opened. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or session recording tools.

We do not sell or share information

We do not sell information and we do not share it for advertising. A browser signal such as Global Privacy Control does not change anything, because there is nothing sold or shared to opt out of.

Seeing, changing or removing information

A parent or guardian, or an adult Buddy, can ask to see, change or remove anything saved about the Buddy by emailing hello@mykeyplans.com. A facilitator can also change a Buddy's record at any time. We keep Buddy information while the Buddy takes part in Launch Buddies, and we remove it when asked.

Keeping it safe

Buddy records can be opened only by signed-in facilitators. Sign-in and storage are handled by Base44. No system is perfect, so please keep private details out of stories and notes.

Young people

Some Buddies may be under 18. A Buddy under 18 takes part only with a parent or guardian, and nothing about them is published until a facilitator has marked both the Buddy's release and the parent or guardian release as signed.

Changes to this page

If the app changes how it handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
